For Immediate Release:

Columbus, OH Sept 18th 2018 This year’s IndyCar season has been one of the best in recent memory, with a title battle that came down to the last race. Grypmat was part of the season opener at St Petersburg and became a sponsor at the Indy 500. After winning the “Pit Stop Challenge,” sponsored in part by Grypmat, Team Chip Ganassi Racing and driver Scott Dixon have won the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Championship.  Ganassi Racing faced some of the toughest competition in a battle to the end. The final race came down to Chip Ganassi Racing, with driver Scott Dixon and Andretti Autosport, with Alexander Rossi. The Ganassi crew would come out on top at Sonoma Raceway and claim the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Championship.

“I’d like to think we had a tiny part in helping them win the championship,” said Grypmat Inventor and President, Tom Burden. “We got to meet the team at this year’s Indy 500 and sponsored the Pit Stop Challenge that they won. We had full access to the garages and Ganassi Racing, and it was inspiring to see the crews work on these cars. I could relate to some of the automotive parallels to aviation when I was working on the F16. Tool management and time efficiency is super critical and we learned so much from the IndyCar teams when we developed the Grypmats.”

IndyCar engineers and the aviation world share common challenges when using tools. Similar to the surface of an aluminum aircraft, traditional magnetic tool trays will not work on carbon fiber IndyCars. The Grypmat has become a vital tool in the way teams service the IndyCar, and that same technology can now be used by the professional or everyday mechanic in their own garage.

Grypmat is a flexible non-slip tool tray that gives mechanics a safe, close location to set their tools without worry of losing them or scratching their delicate work surface. Brightly colored orange and resistant to heat, it is nearly impossible to lose even the smallest fastener under the hood of a car. The patent-pending material has no magnets and can be easily cleaned after each use. The Grypmat Trio has three sizes and was created after research conducted in the field. With a small, medium, and large size, the Grypmat is ready to tackle any job.
