Milwaukee, WI November 29th 2017 –  Tom Burden and his Grypmat winning the Launch Pad competition at this years 2017 SEMA show was only the beginning for the young inventor. The Grypmat would also pick up a Global Media award for best new product. Only one week after accepting the Launch Pad win, and Global Media award, Tom would appear on the new season of Shark Tank trying to land a Shark.

Tom Burden was at the top of his game as he pitched his start-up Grypmat with high hopes of landing a multi-shark deal. What happened next was a feeding frenzy as at one point every shark wanted a bite of Grypmat. Pressure was on as veteran Shark, Robert Herjavec asked Tom, what about a multi shark deal? Tom’s response, “It depends on the shark”.

With that response you could hear a pin drop in the studio, the Sharks would give a collective gasp. This didn’t phase Tom, he quickly moved to select his dream team of sharks. He made a counter offer of 10% split three ways with a total investment of $360K. From left to right he selected Sir Richard Branson, Mark Cuban, and Lori Greiner. Without hesitation Branson, Cuban, And Greiner said, “I’ll do that deal", and each leapt to their feet to shake hands and hug Tom to seal the deal.

“We were so excited just to appear on the show, but to have three sharks invest in Grypmat was a goal, but beyond my wildest expectations. stated Tom Burden Grypmat Inventor and President.  Sir Richard Branson, Mark Cuban, and Lori Greiner have every component of making Grypmat a world class company. Each brings the perfect blend of expertise and experience. Having this dream team will give us the ability to take Grypmat to the next level. I want to thank my family who supported and helped me as well as the Grypmat Team. They all helped make this deal a reality.”

The Grypmat is a flexible non-slip tool tray that gives mechanics a safe, close location to set their tools without worry of losing them or scratching their delicate work surface. Resistant to heat and brightly colored orange, it is nearly impossible to lose even the smallest fastener under the hood of a car. The patent-pending material has no magnets and can be easily cleaned after each use. The Grypmat Trio will be released, for the first time to the racing industry next month in Indy at the PRI show. These three new designs, created after extensive research in the field, will offer a small, medium, and large Grypmat to tackle any job in racing.
